Greetings from Paros, My Little Greek Getaway

Thursday 24 November 2016

I don't think anyone can get enough of the Cyclades Islands, aka the Greek Islands.
The surrounding oceans, the delicious food and one of my favourite countries to shop, this is a must on your travel list.

As we were travelling from Italy on our way to Santorini, we had booked a 3 night stop over in the not so known Island of Paros. I was quite skeptical at first as I was tossing between Ios and Paros and after looking at recommendations for a more romantic quite island, we went ahead with Paros.

WHERE TO STAY

I can truthfully say that this resort, Archipelagos Resort was the most a beautiful secluded escape with stunning views of the Aegean Ocean.

Now may I repeat, the views are stunning!

A magical resort to relax and unwind

My only negative experience was the fitness centre. It was no where near as described and was more of a dungeon with three pieces of equipment. The room was no bigger 500sq foot. I did express my concerns as this was one of the main reasons I had booked so it was a major disappointment. I do hope they renovate this as everything else is just perfect.

WHERE TO EAT

This may sound a little strange but the food at this place was AMAZING and we did not eat anywhere else! The chef is superb and the food was so fresh. I'm a big fan of Mediterranean food and the restaurant here was one of the best places we ate at all trip.

THINGS TO DO

The resort is only a 5 minute drive from the main town, this boutique hotel has a free bus services at 10am, 6pm and 10pm, enough time to explore the inner town and marina. I actually spent the whole day shopping and wondering the inner streets... typical female course

The resort also arranges a wide variety of activities including sea sports, excursions, site seeing and mountain biking.

There are also sunset cruises which we heard was wonderful but we were saving this for Santorini however the resort balcony was just as beautiful.

There's nothing like savouring the warm sun and gentle island breeze.

Thank you for the wonderful memories Paros!

A Magical Escape in the UAE - The Cove Rotana

Tuesday 22 November 2016

Ahhhh The Cove Rotana resort in Ras Al Khaimah is as magical as it sounds. This wonderland is a city of it's own as you overlook layers of Arabian architecture overlooking the ocean.

When I was researching where to stay I needed a place that really resembled a #staycation in the UAE, not in the desert but still desert like! Ha.. picky much. It was then that I saw the beauty of this place. Even when you enter it's hidden over the hill towards the beachfront, just amazing!

The Villas are beautifully spread and the walk to get to each area is like a maze of wanderlust.

We had a touch of romance

Accompanied by earth friendly toiletries.

My only negative comment is the villas had very old furnishing, I expected much higher quality finishings.

WHERE TO EAT

They have two lovely restaurants situated inside the complex, Basilico (a Mediterranean cuisine and Cinnamon with international cuisine) - this was also where the breakfast was held which had such a great variety of options!

WHAT TO DO

Fitness Centre

Fully equiped and spacious, loved getting my daily workout in. Has both cardio and weight machines.

Spa and Massage

Not as affordable as I would have hoped with a standard massage per hour for about AED 450.

Chill and Swim

The resort had two pools, one lagoon and one room temperature controlled pool side.

With delicious poolside munchies

But the true getaway experience was the beach.. just an amazing paradise.

With the sunset bar to wind down and feast

Farewell beautiful cove, until we meet again.

My Sri Lankan Getaway

Monday 7 November 2016

Yes, everything is just green! Stepping out of Dubai into a lush green environment makes you really appreciate nature.
The airport is quite small and like anywhere, everyone is offering to take you to your hotel so don't be fooled by their high prices, ALWAYS negotiate, you will be surprised how much they drop.

We only had three days so we needed a beach front area that was close to the airport. Negombo was a perfect choice!

WHERE TO STAY

Jetwing hotel chain is very well known and clean so if you do come across any deal by that hotel chain to take it up. Jet Sea had been newly renovated so was lucky enough to find a deal.

Everyone was super friendly, even the animals!

Meet Alvin

WHERE TO EAT

The food was quite fab at the Hotel but there is a well known place called Tusker Restaurant which was rice in Sri Lankan food but also had a western twist give the owner was British married to a Sri Lankan. A must try if you get a chance.

THINGS TO DO

Elephant orphanage was on top of our list!! It is such magical experience and the drive there was just so scenic. Not looking at nature but also seeing the lifestyle and culture of the Sri Lankans. I love just observing and showing gratitude for all we have.

On the way to the Elephant orphanage is the GlenLoch tea factory. As boring as it may sound it learnt a thing or two and purchased some freshly grown tea!

It was a short three days but nothing is as peaceful as enjoying a nice tea watching the sunset.

Thank you for the hospitality Sri Lanka!

Palm Jumeirah's finest sushi and shisha lounge

Monday 19 September 2016

This tucked away hidden gem, KYO Restaurant, is the place to be this winter in Dubai. With the freshest seafood and relaxing shisha lounge it's worth a trip!

ATMOSPHERE: Very modern oriental interior. Their outdoor shisha lounge just takes you to a whole new world with such greenery and amazon like deco.

HEALTHY OPTIONS TO ORDER:

Sushi is a very popular meal amongst athletes as seafood is high in protein with minimal fat and white rice is a clean carb.

What to start with..

Now I don't eat much edamame due to the high oestrogen but Edamame Itameru (sweet and sour) is worth a try.

Then you can't go past the mixed sashimi on ice, it was by far my favourite!! A must order, the most freshest and tastiest sashimi.

Who can say no to Oysters..

Then I followed this with assorted sushi. I highly recommend the Eel!

For main course the Veal and Asparagus was the best way to go! High in protein and always making sure my plate is colourful with vegetables.

DRINKS:

Give the mocktails a try. The SWEET GINGER and ASAIN SUMMER are super refreshing.

Then I was a bit naughty...
GYOZA Chocolate and Chocolate fondant with apricot sherbert.. But shhh don't tell anyone..

SERVICE: Super friendly and everything they recommended was just delicious.

Overall had a fabulous experience and look forward to the Shisa lounge opening! See you soon KYO.

Sayonara!
